The Path of Healing or Sorcery
Discerning the difference between Brujeria, Chaos Magicians, and Curanderismo
Every effective path of transformation is a path of power. Whether it be yoga/meditation, medicine work, or austerities one who walks the path in earnest will accumulate power and knowledge.
If you walk a path of power you will become a more powerful co-creator of your reality. Your thoughts, fears, and hopes will more quickly manifest, and your ability to influence others will grow. Every thought will become a prayer or a curse.
What you choose to do with that power will determine whether you walk the path of Curanderismo or Brujeria. The vast majority of people, either consciously or unconsciously, walk the path of Brujeria or that of the Chaos Magician.
Brujeria typically translates as witchcraft or sorcery. It is the pursuit of worldly power or outcome at the expense of others. Most who engage in it do not consciously seek to hurt others. They simply have a strong desire or fear, and have not given much thought to whether fulfilling it serves the good of all or simply their narrow self interest.
I prefer to call those who engage in unconscious Brujeria Chaos Magicians. This is one who has attained power, either through birth or effective practices, but due to their unhealed parts, fear, lack of self-awareness, and undisciplined personality have become an agent of chaos for themselves and others. Sometimes the Chaos Magician creates beauty and healing, at others they create destruction and suffering. They have attained power, but are yet unpolarized in their commitment to serving themselves or others.
I have immense compassion and tolerance for Chaos Magicians. After all, every unhealed person is a Chaos Magician, whether they be potent of ineffectual. But as we walk the path our decisions become more conscious and clear. The Chaos Magician acts primarily from the unconscious self, but as unconscious biases come into conscious awareness decisions must be made.
Will this unconscious unhealed part be brought into conscious awareness and surrendered for healing in service to the good of all, or will we hold onto it and choose to let it continue running our lives?
This is the point at which the Chaos Magician chooses the path of Curanderismo or Brujeria. I have immense compassion for those who choose Brujeria. They are choosing the path of suffering in exchange for the illusion of power, control, and safety. But once the decision is made my tolerance comes to an end. Firm boundaries are needed with those who choose Brujeria. They will bring suffering into your life, and if you aren’t careful their unhealed parts will make you their slave.
The path of Curanderismo or healing is without shades of grey. It is blanco. It is the white path, which is straight and narrow.
The path of the Curandero is one of righteousness and steadfast commitment to serving the good of all. It is the path of healing, self-awareness, non-attachment, and discipline of the mind, body, and spirit.
For the Curandero all prayers have converged into a singular desire for the good of all, and a deep trust and faith that whatever is arising is serving it. It is the path of desiring our own healing, the healing of others, and the healing of those who seek to hurt us.
I have at times been naive about the differences between Brujeria, Chaos Magicians, and Curanderos. I have always prayed for the good of all and for the healing of those who would do me harm. But I have often been blind to the mixed intentions of others.
A clarifying insight has been the realization that the highest form of love is a deep reverence and respect for the free will of others.
Those who use their power to violate the free will of others do not act from a place of love. They serve their own agenda, whether it be their own unhealed parts, fears, or desires. No matter how loving the actions may appear or how good the intentions may seem, if it comes at the expense of the free will of another it serves the self, and is not of love.
There are many false lights in this world. Most are unaware of their own mixed intentions. It is easy to get confused and be deceived. However, as we walk the path it will teach us discernment.
Does this person uplift and empower the people around them, or make them small and dependent? Do I like the way I feel about myself around this person? Or do I become this worst version of myself? These simple inquiries will dispel any confusion.
Those who use their power to empower others by honoring free will can be said to be acting from a place of love, and a desire to be of service to others. This requires a deep and ongoing curiosity about the perspectives of other beings. It is a path of humility, which recognizes we don’t necessarily know what is best for others, and that we can live by example but must never call ourselves to service.
Healing is ultimately a choice by the person seeking healing to be healed. The healer is simply a healed person who generates a field of wholeness that others may choose to attune to.
These insights do not solve all of the world’s problems. There is always a need to balance individual autonomy with collective responsibility. There is also a need for firm boundaries when the free will actions of another impinge upon personal sovereignty. But in terms of my life and commitment to healing, I’ve found these insights to be helpful.
I hope you find value in them, if not, that is ok. It is always your choice not to listen to a word I have to say.
RAMAKA KRIYA
At the behest of my lineage I have started teaching yoga through the vehicle of Ramaka Kriya, which literally translates to "Rama's Spirit in Action." Ramaka Kriya is a path of self and god realization dedicated to restoring Dharma through the use of effective spiritual practices and the righteous use of energy.
It is universalist in the sense that it honors the perennial wisdom tradition and seeks ever greater integrity with truth. While truth is an endless exploration, the key pillars of the tradition are based in mystical Christianity, Hinduism, and indigenous Earth based spirituality.
SATSANGS
I have begun traveling and teaching Ramaka Kriya to raise funds for Ramaka Temple. If you would like to sponsor an event please reach out.
MEDICINE COUNSEL
I offer mediation services and consultations on entheogenic law and integration coaching through Medicine Counsel.
This is beautiful Brother. We’ve been on a parallel path the past year and so much of this resonates as truth to me as well. This boils is all down right here, this is the question to ask yourself when in doubt while lost in the fog of the trance:
“Does this person uplift and empower the people around them, or make them small and dependent? Do I like the way I feel about myself around this person? Or do I become the worst version of myself? These simple inquiries will dispel any confusion.” Put a frame on this and hang it on the wall. 🙏❤️🙏
This was a good read brother, thanks for sharing your wisdom. # Para el bien de todos 🦅🌎🕊️
